    The First Pursuit of 3:30am

In view of the upcoming Penang Bridge Marathon which i signed up for the halfer, I will try to change my bioclock.

After a good (woke up 3 times during the process) sleep, I woke up at 4:07am. After deciding that I need to run, I went to prepare (pee and change).

    4:35am
The morning is young and I went to the usual route. There was this weird dog which stared at me, got me kinda scared. Should I run? Or should I wait for him to come at me, then i'll give him a good kick to the forehead? Basically the dog is quite stupid and is afraid of confrontation so he left me alone. I ran.

    ~Time flies~

    5:30am
Achieved my target for today and decided to call it a day (sun not yet out you call this day ah...). My motivation for finishing was a good roti, limau ais and teh ais. I guess it worked. Bad timing though, need improvements.

    5:35am
I decided to turn to the shortcut to reach newtown. Looked up into the sky, I realised that it was overcast with stars (pls pardon my improper use of descriptive words).

On my way to newtown, which took me quite an effort to avoid the puddles of water, I heard this weird noise. I thought it was another fellow human (girls, never walk around at night. got scary pervy uncle one...). I became cautious and started to activate my 360degrees vision. After a distance I realised that it was the cows making a "uwoh" sound. Morning exercise I guess...

    [Time unknown]
Makan. Realised that I should not have called for susu lembu, they put sugar one... siao...

    6:11am
After packing a second bag of limau ais, I departed and left for where I came from. I saw the "mountainline" and realised that dawn was coming. Dawn from PJ :P

In case you don't know what is a mountainline, think shoreline and horizon.

    6:47am
Sun was trying to make a stand, wanted to watch it rise. Too impatient. Went back to take my shower. Sun came out, the earth was brimming with sarcasm, laughing at me for missing the sunrise. RARW! I don't care!! Wahahahahhaha!!

So till tomo, the pursuit shall be put on hold.

Obviously rite... can only do it once a day (night) ma...

    Mere Nature

Everyone is posting depressing stuff on their statuses, msn nicks, blogs etc... so i'll try not to. I was reading, and came across this phrase.

~Don't fight with mother nature, it fights back.~

My take in this is to... "Live with it"

Really one. I know it sounds depressing and hopeless but it is just the opposite! By living with nature, living in harmony with it, we save cost and save our lives! Imagine a flat land that is allowed to be flooded, to a small extent, that would be better than to experience a tsunami rite?

In the same light, we should never bathe! Cos by not bathing, we are constantly exposing ourselves to germs and viruses, immunising ourselves!

    ~Stop bathing, and stay healthy!~

    Reading

Been doing loads of that during these few days. Times mag, Fortune mag. Can't blame me for reading yea? The issues are piling up and this is the only time that I have to finish them.

Read about the Kennedys cos Ted died some time ago, and my old Times mag (been months since I touched my mags you see...) wrote quite a few articles about the family. Its either the authors who has a wonderful command of English that allows them to write with so much power, or its the lives of the Kennedys that has really been reflected on paper. People just don't normally write like that, even though the people of old wrote with even more thought of their choice of words.

What came to mind after reading was the few words, "unfulfilled ambition" and "destiny fulfilled".

Many things can happen, long years can pass just for one person to rise up just the way He wants it.

    R.I.P.

No, i'm not going to post anything about the two consecutive incidents where 3 person each from events passed away. God be with their family, amen.

This "rest in peace" phrase thingy is annoying me. I wonder, how can anyone rest in peace when the only thing that happens when the body rests forever is for the soul to go to heaven or to hell?

If he goes to heaven, God bless him, he is in the eternal home. However if he goes to hell, never ending fire burns and worms that never die will eat his flesh.

Rest in peace you say... What's done is done.
I believe wishing for peace upon the family members have a better effect.

    Seriously overtime man...

Tired. Planned to wake up at 9am, but 12noon felt like a much better number.

Anyway, I just received the pictures for the backpacking trip. So... here goes.

ah.......... i hate uploading photos to blogger. especially when you wanna upload quite a number. first is the hassle of arranging them, cos i dun get the order in which it uploads. secondly is the problem that the photos always pop up at the top, and you'll have to cut and paste it to where you want it. well... it didn't work just now... so i'm just gonna post 1 photo here. the rest shall go to phasebuk.

    2nd attempt

After working my ass off, I cycled back.
Came down from my bike, walked straight to them once again.
I got their attention, now I release the call of friendship.

    "Chirp, chirp" I said.

WTH, they ran off as if they saw a freak of nature!

    Buffallos in Kampar

I tried to approach one of them today. Dad said that they are very nice and warm animals, you can scratch them, pat them and have fun with them.

I approached from the front. Made sure I did not look intimidating (don't want them charging at me rite...), walked slowly...

And he scrambled off as if he saw a monster bigger than itself...

    A half, and another half

Ok, the previous posts were quite negative. So... I'll start by posting half a post of positive stuff, then work towards a full post of positive stuff again!

So yeap. This semester is wonderful. Loads of things were done, many advancements and many improvements. Though there are undoubtedly setbacks, and red tapes, there is a movement, and there are things being accomplished! I love it!

    1. Another semester is finished, and I believe my batch of undergrads are growing in terms of maturity, independence, and even self-confidence.
    2. CF was good, the semester ended well. We learned and we enjoyed ourselves.
    3. Chemistry Society was formed.
    4. The CF camp was wonderful, I loved it.
    5. The committee "advance" was good. A sense of direction is established, and I believe there is growth in terms of the way we do things, and in our serving.
    6. Backpacking was fun. (Details later) Went to places, and got to know these two friends of mine more, though one slept a lot, and I din get to know him that much.
    7. Completed the Mizuno Wave Run, even though this ill-disciplined me did not train for about 3 months.

There! 7 is a good number rite... just nice.

And so backpacking started from Penang.

We wanted to take the ferry, so we took the bus from Medan Gopeng to Bukit Mertajam and then the ferry. Tada! No jellyfishes in the sea. We went to some makan place outside Gurney plaza for dinner before we headed to Batu Ferringhi for the night market.

We walked, and walked. Eventually, we decided to leave because we realized that the items are repeating itself. LOL. Sorry for being such a spoilt sport but its true!! However, the exciting thing is the bus ride back to the cheapo hotel. The bus ride is like... roller coaster man... And our friend Ah Lok was still sitting at the seat nearest to the open door!! One uncontrolled swing down the Ferringhi Hill and he would be swimming with the Jakuns for the rest of his life...

As you can see from the map, we went to Penang Hill the next morning, by the cable car. That was not the initial plan. It was supposed to be a climb, but we woke up late and eventually used the hot sun as an excuse not to climb. Cable car it is. Penang Hill is basically a hill. DUH!!! Nothing much there, not as cold as Camerons, not as developed either. The only thing that got us interested is the fact that there was this area where a mosque, church and a Hindu temple was placed side by side! Talking about ONE Malaysia wei... 1 Malaysia existed long ago liao lar... pls dun create a campaign in which the effects have already been manifested leh... as if its the campaign that is working like that...

Anyway, did not find the food worth eating, nor the things worth buying, except for this British style restaurant. Unfortunately, the only thing that was within our budget (not really within but it was the cheapest ma...) was tea and scones. The breeze, the shade, the temperature... And this SUPER BIG BUG that keeps "tutt-ting" the flower just beside me!!

Went to look for Shian Hooi after that and she brought us around with her driving skills... hmn... and did I mention that her father treated us to dinner?!?!? My stomach was crying out: "Hallelujah!". We watched a movie (my second time watching it man... Surrogates) and went to bunk over at my sister's place. Thanks again Dar Jie!!

After breakfast, we went "beach hunting" cos we've got some time before the bus leaves. Eventually, we came to this smelly, dirty "beach" near Queensbay Mall (I think correct la, should be this one).

Eventually, selfish me brought us back to Ipoh, my house. Stayed a night, went to church the next day, and we went for the usual. Usual = visiting the caves. Kek Lok Tong, then Sam Poh Tong. The best thing is that we learnt something from this! We learnt that turtles eat french fries!!! Freaky!!! There was this weird family feeding them with McD fries!!!

However, the best thing is still yet to come!

The first 1Malaysia campaign launch! I loved it! A noble campaign, a noble vision, in the hands of a noble committee (pls sense the sarcasm here and also read this). This campaign revealed many talents, and opened my eyes to the things that Malaysians can do, if we work together, truly. Of course, the management was sucky, the crowd engagement was bad (partly because the MC spoke in Bahasa), you-know-who was late... However, this event created in me a realisation that Malaysia needs our generation to do something, really. It is in our hands. 52years of fake development, its time we made a difference.

We left for Pudu Raya the next day and waited for this lousy bus to Kuala Selangor. 3+ hours man... and we even needed to change a bus before getting there. Well... the fireflies spurred us on on this "perilous" journey. The first thing we did was to get a place to stay in the Kuala Selangor Nature Reserve. Then we left for this over-priced seafood restaurant place and eventually the "firefly river". Forgot the name, cos we gave up our lives into the hands of our trusty taxi driver who took us everywhere. Fireflies were cantik, tiny though, can die if you try too hard to hold them. So please, don't. Word of caution, the nature reserve has a RIVER OF SHIT. So, if you see a river with floating stuff... don't breathe. Really! Floating stuff!!!

Ran for our lives and went back to PJ. Tumpang-ed at a friend's friend place. Walked around SS2, experienced first hand the power of 1Malaysia once again. SS2 Murni is the epitome of the ONENESS that the stupid campaign is trying to promote. Cina open shop, employ all sorts of people to cook all sorts of food. Indian, cina, melayu, ang-moh also got. SIAO! This is not mamak la... This is... 1Malaysia! I ate Mee Raja, ayam goreng and tasted roti hawaii, then had a stomach problem the next day... To be precise... even till now. I constantly feel full, but i'm also hungry. I want to eat, but... oh well... it just feels weird.

Maybe this is why my run (Mizuno Wave Run) sucked. I spent the first half of the run contemplating whether I should stop and go look for a toilet. Stupid fella... made me weak all over after that... ok fine fine, my fault. I tarak discipline, so my eating and shitting timings are messed up. Plus, stamina and leg strength also gone liao... need more training man...

Which brings me to the second half of my post. The pessimistic side. I screwed up many things on the personal level. Things might have gone well for the different groups of people I am with, but certainly not so well for me individually.
    1. Academics
    2. Spiritual life
    3. Family life
    4. Running "career"

See! 4! Bad... 7 for good, 4 for bad. Somethings are really representative huh... Pics some other time la... phasebuk probably...

    -

travelling around, made me realise one thing.

i haven't learned to be a good son.

its time to learn the basics.
